We spent Thursday visiting with my parents and my grandma. I had an organization project that took up most of my time. Topher and Sophie spent the majority of their time riding scooters on the backyard track. The big kids took turns hanging out with them. At least one of those big kids got a major sunburn from all that time outside after refusing sunscreen. Apparently the California sun was a lot stronger than expected.
Bryan had to work that first day and Phoebe called in for her last day of classes (at 5:30 in the morning PT), so they stayed at the hotel for the morning, then brought us a much sought after lunch.
Friday was very similar to Thursday, with a few exceptions. It was the last day of school for our virtual students. Sophie had her final class meeting and said goodbye to her teacher. Phoebe and Cooper had a few big projects they needed to finish before midnight Eastern Time, so they had to stay on track. They had both done schoolwork during the drive from Utah to California and still had to dedicate most of those first two days to school. The big lesson here was for the parents: don't schedule a trip until school is out for everyone. Thankfully, they both got their work done! And that meant the schoolyear was officially over.
We had hoped to go to the beach that day, but the chilly weather and work kept us from doing that. We did brave the cool temperatures and walked on the pier that night. The kids loved it! The grownups did too. Then we walked to one of the best restaurants and got amazing Mexican food, including some burritos bigger than Phoebe's head.
Then we dragged ourselves to bed, worn out from another full day.
