We're adjusting to life with three children, although it's been tricky because our sweet little girl absolutely will not sleep in her bed. The longest stretch we've gotten to is 15 minutes. She has quite a bit of stomach distress and I think it helps to have the warmth and pressure of someone holding her to relieve the pain. I've begun experimenting with my diet to see if something I'm eating is bothering her. Dairy is the first item I've cut-out. We'll see if that helps. In the meantime, Bryan and I have been taking turns holding her overnight so the other can sleep. This means that both of us are somewhat zombie-like in the morning.
Enter the miracle worker, aka Bryan's mom.
She's been here for the last week and we are truly thankful for her. She's been taking the boys on walks, doing projects with them, making up stories for them. That is some serious grandma awesomeness. It means that the boys don't have to deal with crazy-tired parents every morning. And that those same crazy-tired parents get more sleep than they would otherwise.
Thank goodness for grandmas.

I love the picture. She looks very angelic. I’m also grateful that Bryan’s mom is there. It gives me peace of mind to know you have such competent and loving help. I hope Phoebe feels better soon. I remember you had colic. You were the only one out of 5 children to have it, and I think it lasted until you were about 5 months old. We held you a lot. I hope Phoebe doesn’t have colic, and she is just adjusting to her new life.
I told my friend, Melisa, Phobie's name and she said that was her favorite name. Phobie looks so sweet. Send more pictures of the whole gang.
She's beautiful! Congrats, Margot. I hope you're able to figure out what's bothering her. 15 minute stretches of sleep - OW.
Such a sweet baby! Here's hoping that you can figure out what's hurting her little tummy. Word of caution- if you're cutting out dairy, make sure not to replace it with Soy products. Soy contains substances that mimic estrogens, which could cause problems with your little girl's endochrine system in the long run. You might also want to check into gluten as the possible culprit.
Good luck!
That is such a cute picture. The tummy trouble might not be a sensitivity, it could just be because she is a newborn and it takes time for their tummies to mature. Some longer than others. I know they say bad things about co-sleeping, but it really isn't bad if you look into it, and it might help you all get some sleep once Grandma is gone.
She is SO cute! Sorry about the sleeping and tummy situations. My little girl wouldn't/doesn't sleep very well in her crib either. She slept fairly well in her bouncer for the first eight weeks until she was too wrigly and squirmy. I think being a little upright helped and she probably felt like she was being held still. Gas drops also helped her. She also liked being swaddled. Good luck! And hooray for grandma. :)
SHe looks so much like her brothers. . . except girl. She's beautiful! I hope I have a girl someday to dress up:)
