Wake Up!

I went to the dentist today. I had a few tiny little cavities that they wanted to take care of. I lounged in the dentist chair and watched Ellen. It was like a mini-vacation. They finished and told me that the Novocaine would wear off in a few hours.

That was at 4pm.

I went home and waited for feeling to return to my face. By 6:30 I still couldn't feel anything. I had to eat my dinner by sticking my finger in my mouth and holding my cheek away from my teeth. While we were at Peter's t-ball game I had visions of drool rolling down my chin and being totally unaware of it. Then I started to worry. What if something was wrong? What if the Novocaine had caused permanent damage ? What if I was still numb because I was ALWAYS going to be numb?

By the time the game ended I could feel part of my cheek again, but my chin was still completely asleep.

At 9:30 tonight I could feel my face again. My jaw is wicked sore (they put the shot right into that muscle), but I'm so glad I'm aware of that painful sensation.
