Remember last Thanksgiving when Bryan sliced off the pad of his thumb? I was nervous we would have a repeat this year. Thankfully the only injury for 2018 was a burn on my right index finger. I tried to take a pizza out of the oven the night before Thanksgiving and bumped the rack above the pizza. It blistered and is healing now.
On Thanksgiving day Phoebe wanted to help with the dinner. I asked her to make name cards for everyone. Here's one of them. She drew everyone as a pilgrim and left a place for us each to write what we're thankful for. Instead of writing, we used the prompt to give our thanks aloud.
We had an extra long break this year. The kids went back to school today. I'm so thankful that we had the extra day off, especially since we spent those days fighting a cold. It was hard to send them back today.
Almost all the leftovers are gone! I'm surprised at how quickly they were gobbled. I guess that's a good indication of how delicious everything was.
All month I've been focusing on gratitude here on the blog. Nearly every post so far has talked about what I'm thankful for. I wanted to bring those blessings to the forefront of my brain, so I looked for things I was thankful for in each event or idea that I wrote about. It was a good exercise. I think I'll do it again next year.
