Punctuation Power

During a recent dinner I was at the stove cooking crepes (thanks go to my college roommate Tricia for this skill) instead of sitting at the table. Crepes are delicious and sometimes a bit messy, so Peter asked for a napkin. Since I wasn't nearby I told him yes, then asked Sophie to hand him a napkin. But Sophie only heard the beginning of my sentence.

Sophie: Why did you say yes to me? Peter wanted the napkin.

Me: Yes, I was asking you to hand him a napkin.

Sophie: Oh, I see, you meant Yes comma Sophie.

It was a proud moment.
