Ladybug Girl

For Christmas Phoebe got a big girl bed. Well, the bed is still in our storage unit, so I guess it's more accurate to say that she got a big girl mattress. We decided to start her out on just the mattress so that she could adjust to a bed without walls while she's close to the ground. The first few nights we found her sprawled out in the middle of her floor, but she's getting progressively better at staying tucked in bed while she slumbers.

Remember the amazing quilt my sister-in-law made for Cooper? Well, you can see part of the quilt she made for Phoebe in the picture below. I was thrilled when I found the (free) pillow pet to match. The quilt is big enough for my bed, put perfect for Phoebe's bed when folded and tucked. I'm glad it's big, that means she can continue to use it as she grows.

The Girly Show

My totally awesome sister-in-law in Hawaii (I have four sisters-in-law, they're all absolutely fabulous, but only one is in Hawaii, just so you know) has generously loaned us some of my nieces' clothes for our still-unnamed baby girl. I think we're set for clothes for the first six months of her life.

I liked lots of the clothes she sent, but there were two standouts:


Ruby slippers! I love these little shoes! I don't usually put shoes on my kids until they start walking, but I'm going to have to make an exception here.

Too much of my own wardrobe is black, so it's in character that this should be my favorite shirt. But it's not just the color that attracts me. Can you read the words? There's a better picture below.


I gave a nice loud laugh when I read this shirt. Yeah, it's swell.

Thanks again Amanda! We'll do our best to keep everything nice, just in case Clara ever has a baby sister.

Thankful

I wrote last week about my family being in town, but I never wrote about why. Here's the reason:

My brother Ian, his wife Amanda, and their sweet daughter Clara were sealed for time and all eternity at the Salt Lake Temple. We've been looking forward to this since Ian and Amanda were married in 2007. I'm so thankful that they chose to become an eternal family.

I have a strong testimony of the importance of eternal families. I'm sealed to Bryan, Peter, and Cooper. I'm sealed to my parents. Having this eternal perspective reminds me of the necessity of building and maintaining relationships with my family. It helps me to stay calm on those days when my patience is running thin by reminding me of the big picture instead of the small moment I'm experiencing. It connects me to those members of my family that have come before me, and brings to mind those that will come after.

Congratulations Ian, Amanda, and Clara! We love you!
