Lightning Has Struck My Brain

I had something planned for today, but it will have to wait. I just read this and I think you should too. I think my favorites are five and six. And I've been thinking about number one a lot lately, so I appreciated her insight.

A few of my own recent mom epiphanies:

  1. Cooper gives the best hugs. Period. He wraps his little arms tightly around your neck and puts his head on your shoulder. It's pretty magical. He also likes to pinch my cheeks, pull my face close to his, and kiss the end of my nose. There are few things in life as sweet as a snuggle from Cooper.
  2. Life is better when there is sunshine streaming into my home. Double the joy if the windows are open as well. We are all kinder and more patient with each other when we're breathing fresh air.
  3. My boys can make their own beds. I need to help Cooper a little bit, but Peter is totally self-sufficient in the bed making department. Persistence pays off. Who knew?
  4. If I can make myself laugh and smile, even when I don't feel like it, the day will go better. The boys respond better to laughter and smiles than to scolds and frowns. Before long I won't have to force a grin, it will come naturally.
  5. I love having a clean house. This isn't a new epiphany, but it is a recurring one. I feel like I'm a better mom when we don't have to pick our way through junk.
Have you had any epiphanies lately?

This post is fantastic.

I'm marveling that Peter can make his bed. I'm only just starting with the boys (though I'm not going to give myself guilt about that -- Logan is sensitive and stubborn and without an older sibling to be an example and it's only *just now* starting to be a non-battle). (Besides; your kids are geniuses!) But still I do the covers for him (he's left with pillows and stuffed animals) because he "can't." Maybe I just need to sneak in some practice for him. And Josh, too. Hmmmmmmmm. :-)

Love sunshiny weather and opening up the curtains, too.

As for my own epiphanies, I'm going to have to post them on my own blog. You know, after I have some. :-D

P.S. You didn't ask, but for once I know where the title comes from!! I feel cool.

My greatest epiphany lately is that when I react with a laugh or a smile or an exaggerated response rather than yelling or screaming, the situation is much more diffused and Jackson listens better. Really, it is better to laugh something off than to get angry. Really.
