Cooper, Phoebe, and I supported some of our past and present kids choir members in their high school production of Legally Blonde. It was definitely PG-13, and a little shocking at moments. But the kids that we came to see did a great job and played wholesome roles.
We had three days of beautifully warm weather.
And today it snowed.
But yesterday, it was still warm. Rain was expected right about the time I needed to pick Topher up from the bus. Sure enough, just as he ran from the bus to our van, fat raindrops started to fall. He asked if he could please run home while I drove next to him, even though it was raining. I would normally have said no, but on a whim I said yes.
He was soaking wet when we arrived, but so very happy, despite the look on his face in these pictures.
Yesterday Topher's tree climbing required an intervention. He's never been that high up. Thankfully Bryan was able to talk him through climbing back down.

Just now I was sitting in our living room, folding laundry, when Topher came out of timeout. This is the conversation that followed.
Me: Topher, come talk to me.
Topher: I love you. There I talked to you.
Me: I love you too. That's not what we need to talk about.
Topher: I'm sorry.
Me: Sorry for what?
Topher: I'm sorry I said you said I could be on the iPad, even though you didn't.
Me: Which was a lie, you know that, right?
Topher: Yeah.
Me: And you know that lying's not okay, right?
Topher: Yeah.
Me: It's actually one of the ten commandments.
Topher: What?!
Me: Yep, thou shalt not lie.
Topher: (picking up three rolls of Bryan's socks) But they didn't say thou shalt not juggle!
And then he tried to juggle the socks.
I'm not sure that he got the message.
Tonight we watched Phoebe perform in her high school's annual Theatre Showcase. She sang and danced in the opening number, Grease Is the Word, and did a great job.
Having so many busy nights can be overwhelming, but I'm so glad that we've made it part of our family culture to support each other by attending all the various performances our kids are in.
Cooper participated in a Low Voices choral festival today. He and six other young men from our school district joined young men (and a few young women in the tenor section) from five or six other school districts for most of the afternoon and evening. They worked with two professional choral directors and learned three songs that they performed for the families at an informal concert at the end of the festival. They sounded great! I'm so glad that Cooper has had opportunities this year to grow as a singer and musician.
I've lost count of how many spirit weeks we've had at school this year. This week we're celebrating Dr. Suess' birthday and the first costume prompt was to dress like your favorite book character. Unfortunately, until 10 minutes before we had to leave to take Sophie to her before school student government meeting, I thought it was pajama day. I learned my mistake when I double checked the flyer that had come home. So, with new information in hand, we scrambled. I don't love Dog Man, but Topher does, and I was thankful that it was an easy costume to assemble. Double-sided fabric tape and construction paper to the rescue!
On Saturday I was one of the drivers for our youth temple trip. Phoebe had to stay home for a rehearsal, but Cooper and Sophie were able to go. It was a long day with a lot of crazy Philadelphia driving, but I'm always happy to be in the temple with my kids.
