Big Hair

So, it turns out Peter's not the only one with big hair. This didn't even require product and a hairdryer, just his hands running through it. I think it's quite impressive.

Stand Back, I'm Going to Try Science!

Sophie had to do a science experiment for school one day last week. Instead of insisting that Topher leave her alone to work, she invited him to join her. He loved getting to be a scientist with her. And I loved that I could make dinner while they worked (mostly) happily together.

Revenge of the Sixth

Our family went to a Star Wars party on Saturday evening. About thirty minutes before we were supposed to leave for the party some of us decided to go ready for the costume competition. Peter was an unnamed rebel, Sophie was Princess Leah, and Phoebe was Rey. I went as an angry Luke Skywalker (dressed all in black, with a black glove on my right hand), but didn't enter the contest.

Phoebe was surprised when she was voted the winner of the contest! That's the second costume contest she's won in the last year. I wish I had taken a picture of her hair, I think it completed the ensemble.

The Last First Tooth

Topher lost his first tooth on Wednesday! It's been loose for a few weeks and by the time we brushed his teeth on Wednesday evening it was quite mobile. He asked both me and Sophie to pull it out, but the root was still holding on. However, I had the feeling that it might work its way free while he slept, so I offered to give it one more tug. Out it popped!

At four years old, he's the youngest of our kids to lose his first tooth. His fifth birthday is right around the corner, so he just slipped in under the wire.

He was thrilled to wake up on Thursday morning and find his tooth, which he had placed under his pillow the night before, had been replaced with a quarter!

Play Ball!

Topher told us recently that his favorite sport is baseball. I guess that explains why he wanted to play baseball one day last week while he was still in his pajamas. Of course, it was after lunch by that point in the day...

Ha Lay You La

Topher has a special way to sing the Hallelujah Chorus. It may be my favorite rendition.

I Love to See the Temple

I had the opportunity to teach a class on making and keeping covenants for a stake women's conference on Saturday morning. I spent several weeks reading, pondering, and preparing. I also followed a prompting and made time to attend the Philadelphia temple the day before I taught. My soul needed it.

Flower Child

Sophie and the other Primary Activity Day Girls were invited to learn how to arrange flowers. Sophie loved the experience and brought home this darling flower puppy.

Busy Hands

See what I'm pointing to in this picture? There should be a chain there. The missing chain turns the lights on and off in my room. I made the rookie mistake of going to the bathroom and leaving someone cute and bouncy and four-years-old alone. And now we can't turn those lights on. We're pretty sure it can be fixed, and we have some additional lighting in our room, but it is a little dark at the moment.
