Picking Up the Tab

Topher, Sophie, and I went grocery shopping last week. While we were waiting in line to pay, Topher was at the perfect height to push the buttons of the payment terminal keypad. In an attempt to distract him, I pulled out my wallet and opened it in front of him. That did the trick. He turned away from the buttons.

I shifted my gaze to Sophie to check on her behind me. When I turned back to Topher, I saw that he had pulled my library card out of my wallet and was doing his best to slide it into the chip reader.

I'm pretty sure he's a genius.
