Planning for the Future

Peter had a hard time falling asleep last night. At one point I walked by his room and saw him sitting up in bed. I went in to check on him:

Me: Peter, are you okay?
Peter: Mommy, I want...I want...
Me: You want what?
Peter: I want to go on a mission and then be married to a nice girl and she will be the kids mom and my kids will have four.
Me: You'll have four kids?
Peter: Yeah. And when my kids go to sleep I will be out there where you guys are.

I guess we make our evening routine of checking email and folding laundry in the living room seem like the happening place to be. Or maybe it's just that anything is better than going to sleep.

such a high price this boy is willing to pay not to go to bed. (mission, marriage, children) Not bad things, but I'm just sayin'.

Oh, SO cute - and I love the new banner pic at the top of your blog! Don't you wish we could have appreciated sleep as kids, now that it's what we typically would rather be doing than anything else?!?

Margot, don't you ever have doubts about how you are raising your children! Peter is turning out to be a fantastic kid! And I imagine cooper will be the same - well, as far as the level of awesomeness is concerned. You can be awesome in different ways. I don't know Cooper very well, yet, so I have no idea what kind of kid he is, but he's awesome.(I am about to finish my paper, and so I am a bit mind fried, sorry for the rambling.) The moral of this story; don't change anything about how you are raising Peter and Cooper.

Isn't it funny: when you're a kid all you want to do is stay up with the grown-ups and do "fun things" like paying bills on the computer or fold laundry. And when you're an adult all you want to do is go to sleep and forget about those daily errands that start to drive you crazy. I mean bills: they come every month! Makes me tired just thinking about it. Good post.
